The already-iconic Maximilian Davis goes to Ferragamo
Whoever loves Mondays is out of their mind but hey, THIS Monday hits different. Woke up at 7 am and it was already there: an e-mail in my inbox with some very out-of-this-world news: Maximilian Davis has been announced as Salvatore Ferragamo’s new Creative Director. There you have it – just like that, it’s a perfect Monday already.
“I am deeply honoured to be joining Ferragamo, and grateful for the opportunity to build on the rich and profound heritage of the house. Ferragamo represents a dedication to timeless elegance and sophistication that I find incredibly inspiring. I’m looking forward to articulating my vision, elevated by the codes of Italian craftmanship, quality and innovation,” says Davis on his Instagram feed.
But, who is this Maximilian Davis boy? Well, he’s basically a once-in-a-lifetime kind of talent. He is fashion’s lucky strike; a vision that has kept this over-rated industry interesting for the past months. No surprise he’s from London – considered to be fashion’s most important talent incubator. Davis might be young but he knows what the world needs. And what is that? Fresh air.
An already-favorite among other icons like Dua Lipa, Rihanna, and Dazed’s EIC, Ibrahim Kamara, Maximilian is a very loud voice: one that screams in the most beautiful way. On his appointment as Ferragamo’s new creative mind, Marco Gobbetti, CEO of the Italian powerhouse, says: “The clarity of Maximilian Davis’ vision together with the level of execution and his powerful aesthetic make him one the most brilliant talents of his generation. His work is defined by elegance, refined sensuality, and constant commitment to quality. Through his lens of contemporary sensibility, he will write a new, exciting, chapter for this house built on a heritage of creativity, craftmanship, sophistication, and outstanding human values.”
Is this Ferragamo’s most exciting era already? Duh, yes.
Bravissimo.
