Some of today’s biggest stars are speaking their truth in Calvin Klein. The clothing brand unveiled their newest #MyTruth campaign featuring Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes, Noah Centineo, Chika and the Aussie pop prince, Troye Sivan.
A series of films directed by Jonas Lindstroem show the celebrities posing in Calvin Klein t-shirts, dresses, sports bras or simply a pair of briefs. In Sivan’s film, he walks through a misty street talking about convincing himself he is deserving to be the person he always wanted to be. In his second clip, he crowd surfs to the beat of his hit Bloom.
The accompanying photo campaign was shot by Mario Sorrenti, and shows Sivan wearing an open-shirt, pink makeup and smoky cat eyes; in another picture he looks towards the camera, wearing a black tank top and a denim shirt slipping off his shoulders.
Previous to the launch, Troye spoke about being part of this campaign and how he felt being on set. Overall he described the experience as a mixture of difficult, nerve-wracking, easy and fun. “Vulnerability is never easy, but I’ve grown to really love the liberation on the other end of it”, he said.
In preparation for the shoot, he spent time planning with Jonas the video portion of the campaign. “I really wanted to make something that felt like a tongue in cheek fantasy turns reality story.” He also got to share the spotlight with people he likes and admires: “I really love what Chika does and have for a long time.”
As part of this global campaign, which made him feel really “Sexy for wearing Calvin Klein”, he can now laugh at old memories. When he was younger he said he used to stare at the photos of the boys on the CK underwear boxes. Now he enjoys feeling like a part of that.
